Barbara Ann Akens
Staff Barbara Ann Akens, 74, died Thursday, May 01, 2014 at her home in McMinnville. She was a native of Cannon Co. She is survived by her husband, Donald Lee Akens of McMinnville; Stepdaughter: La Donna Elam of Lubbock, Texas; Stepson: Russell Akens of Albuquerque, NM; Siblings: Shelia J. (Rogers) Corley of McMinnville, Tn. And Billy D. Rogers of Danville, IN.; Niece and nephew: Tina Price and Jesse Rogers both of Danville, IN. Numerous step grandchild and step great grandchildren also survive. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Frank Rogers and Mary Jean Lewis Rogers. During her life, Barbara was employed at Carrier Corp. and retired from Calsonic Corp. in Morrison. She was a homemaker, loved animals, decorating the home, shopping and reading. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Graveside Service will be held at 2 pm Monday, May 05, 2014 at Cherry Cemetery with Bro. Herb Alsup officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 10 am until 12 noon Monday, May 5, 2014 at Woodbury Funeral Home.
