Somewhere around 1982 I began writing the Auburntown News column. It began with a hand-written column that was either hand-delivered or mailed to the office. Sometime later I made the advancement to a typewriter but the delivery system was still the same. True excitement came when I was given a fax machine and could get it to the "Courier" office the same day without leaving my house. During this time, I had what they called themselves "cub" reporters by way of Winfred and/or Sara Gaither. (and I miss their "reports")

Then the computer and email with copy and paste - such advancement! However, this also brought on social media and with the loss of my "cub" reporters, it has become more difficult to get the "written" news so I write this to let you readers know this is my last column. After 30+ years it's time for someone else to "put their fingers to the keyboard" reporting the news from Auburntown.

A thank you to each of you who has been a faithful reader and an even bigger THANK YOU to the "Cannon Courier" for publishing my "news".
