For some it was a week spent at Defeated Creek Campground enjoying a lot of swimming, good eating, and playing. For a few it was just a day with those who were there for the week. John, Kim and Callie Francis, John, Angie, Hannah and Justin Whited, Ethan Bryson, Megan Davis, Brandon, Abby, Lily and Eli James, Lori and Luke Jakes, Bratten and Wanda Duggin, Ernest and Rita Davis, Greg, Rhonda and Garrett Goff - well there may have been more or there may have been less but that was a campground full.

The Junkers, Justin, Tiffany, Hannah and Nate, also camped out but they did their good times at Center Hill Lake.

Saturday the 30th was a fun day for Cheyrel Pursell, Leslie Pursell, Melinda and Lily Crook, Dianne McAllister, McCarlee Eubanks and Emily Whited enjoyed some fun times at the Discovery Center followed by some pizza and that followed by "Finding Dory"!

Saturday the 2nd it was a trip to Loveless Café for their famous biscuits and delicious food for Tim, DeAnna, Alayna and Adrianna Reed.

Waylon Francis turned 4 and celebrated his birthday with a Paw Patrol them on the 4th.

Our "crew" was here for Independence Day cookout. Not only did we celebrate the 4th we also got caught up on our June birthday desserts. Salted caramel was the wish for both Shannon Patrick who had a chocolate chip salted caramel cheesecake while Daxton Patrick had his salted caramel in a chocolate frosting over a chocolate cake.

The "crew" also included Jewell and Brian Dale who came up to spend a few days.

Derrick Hughes was a "hillbilly in paradise" (his words!) when his work took him to San Diego, CA for a week. In his spare time, he toured downtown and took many photos to remember-one of which included the Bob Hope Memorial. He also walked along the beach of Coronado Beach. The USS Midway Museum was another stop of his.

It was at Balboa Park where he was able to capture a mermaid swinging on an anchor (picture to prove it!). His tour included The San Diego Museum of Art and the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park as well as the Santiago Zoo. There was also a trip to Little Italy.

Well it was finally back to the hills of Tennessee for Derrick to enjoy the hot dogs and other goodies that were provided by our volunteer fire fighters to celebrate the 4th of July.

Of course he wasn't the only one. A good crowd enjoyed the eats and the kids (as well as some adults who just "happened" to get pushed in) really enjoyed the "pool" our firemen provided.

Everyone is getting excited about and gearing up for this year's Red Apple Days Festival held on August 5th & 6th. This year's Gospel Music Concert will start things off Friday Night and goes till who knows when. Saturday's events get started bright and early with the Lion's Club 5K and continue throughout the day with fun for everyone. There will be venders providing great food and crafts to enjoy, lots of activities for the kids, a dunk tank where you get to soak your favorite Volunteer Firefighter, and a parade at Noon.

Other events include a dog show, a cool car cruise in, The Lions Club fish fry, and Miss Red Apple Days Pageant. Things will wrap up Saturday night with live music and some favorite bands from the area.

The Miss Red Apple Days Pageant is for girls ages 3-20 who want to show their best and compete for the crown in their own age division. A variety of optional competitions will be available as well, including Miss Photogenic, Miss Volunteer Service, Miss Academic Achievement, and a very special Miss AVFD Spokesmodel. Winners will get to hold the title for the year and receive a prize package that includes a ride in the Red Apple Days Parade.

Well, Chattanooga and the both of the City Café Diners will never be the same. Tuesday Shannon Patrick, Bethany Morrison, DeAnna and Adrianna Reed, Janna Womack and I set off for a "girls' day out". We ate lunch at one of the diners. Had to do some shopping to settle the food down so we could eat the desserts at the other diner. It was a great time and a whole lot of fun.

Here is some advice from DeAnna: When you go a public restroom, make sure to check ALL of your clothing before exiting!
