Friday night, basketball players, cheerleaders, parents and grandparents gathered at the Auburn Church of Christ for their annual banquet. Each cheerleader was given a "megaphone" filled with candy. Each girl basketball players received a photo book to remember the milestones of the year and each boy athlete received a basketball. An estimated 130 attendees enjoyed the delicious catered meal by "Slick Pig", Murfreesboro.

Saturday night, the church hosted a spaghetti supper. All proceeds are helping their youth to fund missions for a trip to Costa Rica to support a church, orphanage and school in that area.

If you missed out on this supper and would like to enjoy a Costa Rica Night, be at Middle Tennessee Christian School this Friday night between the hours of 5:00 and 7:30. The menu features an authentic Costa Rican cuisine of meat, rice, beans, and vegetables with special homemade Costa Rican dessert. There is no charge for the meal but donations are appreciated.

It's now time for the weekly Juicy tale but first a big thank you to Ward Odom for his submission to last week's column. That is one which I had not heard.

Here's one from Milan Davenport (a note from me: Please don't use this when one of our Cannon County High School Seniors approach you next year for a magazine subscription!!): "Some Lascassas High School students were in Auburntown selling magazine subscriptions. When they approached Juicy, he said, "Can't read…don't like to look at pictures." They were not taking "no" for an answer and asked him what his name was. The look on his face was one of deep concentration. After about 30 seconds he said, "Used to know as good as anybody," turned and walked away."
