The Auburntown City Council met on August 1, 2017, with the following members of the City Council present: Tina Fletcher, Dean Nichols, Janice Fletcher, and Mayor Roger Turney. Absent: Rita Davis and Denise Crowell. The meeting was called to order and the July Minutes and Financial Report were read and approved.

Mayor Turney reported that the State is phasing out the Hall Income Tax. Last year the City received approximately $6,000 from this tax, and this year we have only received $1,334.31.

David Duggin has done an excellent job mowing and clearing the right-of-way around the City. Mike Lane has done repair, painting, and extra weed-eating in the City Park. We appreciate all of his efforts to keep the Park maintained and ready for Red Apple Days.

The City now has 18 new street signs that are ready to be installed. Mayor Turney with the help of Mr. Jim Jones is going to secure the hardware needed for the installation of these signs.

Mr. Turney attended the Cannon County Emergency Planning Committee meeting to update the Emergency Plan for the county. This meeting was held on August 3, 2017, at Stones River Hospital in Woodbury.
