Auburntown Council OKs Gospel Music Event

The Auburntown City Council met Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. for their regular monthly meeting.  Mayor Roger Turney and all city Councilpersons were present except Frank Patrick and Beth Hancock.

The City Recorder presented the minutes for the months October for approval. The minutes were approved without correction or questions.

The financial report for October was distributed for approval. Following an explanation of a few out-of-ordinary entries the report was approved as presented.

The Mayor passed out the Annual Financial Report for the year ending June 30, 2011 performed by John R. Poole, Certified Public Accountant. The mayor asked each councilperson to review the report and be prepared to discuss and ask any questions they might have at next month’s council meeting.

The Management and Booking Agent, along with the members of “Three Parts Grace” gospel music group, met with the council to discuss and request the use of C. S. Hawkins Park April 12, 2012.  The purpose of the request was to have a day program revolving around Gospel Music as a community celebration of our heritage.

As of now, the program is quite fluid with a variety of the entertainment still in the planning stage.  The theme for he event will be entitled “Coming Home with Three Parts Grace 2012.”

As there is usually no charge for the use of the park, the group was given the go-ahead with their plans.  The only request was that the group be responsible for any additional charges (above the normal) for the utilities — electricity and water, which they agreed.

The meeting ended at 6:45 p.m.
