Auburntown City Council meets

The Auburntown City Council met Tuesday, August 4, 2009 for their regular monthly meeting. The Mayor and all councilmen were present.

The previous minutes were read and approved as presented.

The Treasurers report was given by Rita Davis, Treasurer, which showed a balance of funds in the amount of $39,445.12.

Roy Sullivan was present for the meeting and presented a written proposal for the annual maintenance of C.S. Hawking Park, City Hall and Community Center. The services listed were for labor only and any equipment or landscaping materials to be paid for by the City. Following a review by the Council the proposal was accepted as being very reasonable in all aspects.

The inmates for the county were commended for the pre and post cleanup and refurbishing of the park and City in preparation for celebrating Red Apple Day. There was a lot of other volunteers as well who supported the preparation for the annual event namely: Jimmy Mingle, Tommy Griffith and Charles Ritchy. There were many others but time and space will not permit to list the all.

The Mayor reported that he had just received the long-awaited “Release of Funds” letter to run utility water up Hurricane Creek Rd. The DeKalb Utility District board of directors have made plans to meet 8-4-09 in preparation for letting the contract just as soon as possible.

The meeting began at 6:00 P.M and ended at 6:35 P.M.
