Staff

The Auburntown City Council met January 7, 2014 at 6:00 PM for their regular monthly meeting. Mayor Roger Turney and the following aldermen were present: Janice Fletcher, Tina Fletcher, Denise Crowell and Winfred Gaither. The following aldermen were absent: Rita Davis and Frank Patrick.

The minutes of the previous month of December were approved as presented by the City Recorder.

The financial report was presented for discussion and approval. Following a cursory review of particular out-of-line items the report was approved as presented. The balance of funds on deposit December 31, 2013 was $55,861.14.
The Mayor announced that he had completed the number of classes required by the state to act as the, "Chief, Financial Municipal Officer" for the City. He has scheduled other required classes to maintain his approval for the year 2014.

The Mayor announced that all customers of the DeKalb Utility District, DUD, will see a slight increase in their water bills beginning in the near future. This increase is necessary to offset the more than, "Doubling the cost", of water purchased from the City of Smithville. DUD is in the process of sending out a letter to explain this increase in more detail.

The Mayor and all City Aldermen wish to commend and express our appreciation to the Tennessee Highway Department for their rapid and sufficient treatment of Hwy. #145 during the recent cold spell and to keep the Auburntown/Woodbury hill open for traffic.

The Christmas light posted throughout the city during the Holiday season has generated a lot of favorable and appreciatory comments. The Mayor and his volunteers are to be commended in taking the lead in this worthwhile city project.

This business session ended at 6:45 PM.
Winfred Gaither,
City Recorder
