Well it's here - 2015 AUBURN SCHOOL REUNION! I sure hope you have gotten the word out about this event. It happens only every 5 years and is for anyone who has ever attended, worked, taught, etc. at Auburn Elementary/High School. You do not have to be a graduate. We look forward to seeing you here this Saturday, June 6th anywhere from 12:00 noon 'til.
If you come hungry, you are welcome to eat fish and shrimp prepared by our local Lion's Club. The cost is $8.00/plate and includes fries, hush puppies, slaw, beans and drink.
Mike Allen received a surprise bed feller last week. It was a brown recluse spider which bit him and put him in the hospital for a couple of days. Glad to hear he is home.
Although terrifically sore, we're thankful that is all that is the result of a vehicular accident in which Jewell Dale was involved Sunday. The occupants of the other vehicle was not injured either.
The Renaissance Festival is an annual event held in Franklin. Attending this year's event were Megan Davis, Kim Francis, Callie Francis, Jenny, Brooklyn and Londyn Francis, Amanda, Waylon and Allison Francis and Angie and Hannah Whited. They especially enjoyed the Castle Gwynne.
Jordan Turney has ended his first year at Hardin University, Searcy, AR and has returned home for the summer.
Lisa Reed sure does keep the roads and the sky hot. She has just gotten back from a trip to parts of Louisiana. In Jean Lafitte, she took a gator tour. It was a haunted history tour and a lot of good eating in New Orleans. Going with her were friends Greg and Lorrie Weddington.
Ruth and Marvin Davenport enjoyed the visits from relatives in Alabama. First it was grandson, Caleb Davenport and friend who came up from Hoover and then later Rhonda Davenport Likos brought her dad and Marvin's brother, Milan and Lib Davenport up from Guntersville. Real glad that Milan and Lib were well enough to make the trip.
Sunday night was a good time for a wiener roast which Tammy and Blake O'Neal hosted for members of Dillon Street Baptist Church following services.
Adrianna Reed and Madison Gaither took off to Crossville for a week's worth of 4-H camp. Keeping them company is friend, Anna Grace Sissom.
So while Adri was gone, Alayna had friends, Katie Hoskins and Rachel Dorris, over for an overnight stay Tuesday.
The annual memorial service at the Donnell Cemetery is set for Sunday, June 7th at 2:30 p.m. Bro. Jerry Osborne is the speaker. A financial report is being given. Anyone who has relatives or friends buried there are encouraged to attend. All donations are appreciated which is used for the upkeep of the cemetery.
Hannah Whited is still running. Her team from Central Magnet placed 1st in the 2015 TSSAA State Track Meet 4x800 relay. She placed 5th in the 1600m. This is quite an accomplishment for a sophomore. Expecting great things next year.
Memorial Day was a day to remember those who gave their lives for our freedoms. It was also the day my family hosted a cookout for my birthday (a little early). Ryan and Janna Womack hosted the event.
Want to know whose birthdays are being celebrated this week? Well here goes. It starts with Scarlett Turney and Noah Barnes who have theirs the 4th. On the 5th Terry Thomas, Nancy Haley, Ryan Womack and Haley Armstrong all get their cake. Becky Gandy and C.J. Hughes enter another year on the 6th. On the 7th it's Alyssa Whited, Brady Lewis Lee and Sunshine Robbins who get to celebrate. Alberta Griffith's is the 8th and finishing up the week on the 9th is Kathryn Faille. Happy birthday to all of you.
Happy 56 years of wedded bliss to Joe and Velma Turner on the 4th. That same day but in 2011 Nick Smith and Lori Jackson became Mr. and Mrs. Clarence and Pam Nipper celebrate their 43rd on the 6th. Happy anniversary to all 3 couples.
