Antique Furniture Reportedly Stolen In Readyville

Over $2,000 in antique furniture and other items was reported as stolen recently from a residence in Readyville.

Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Gullett was dispatched to an address on Readyville St. on March 18 in reference to a break-in that had occurred on March 17.

He was met by the purported victims, a husband and wife, who said they were selling the home and had come to move all of the furniture out.

The husband stated when he arrived he noticed the rear door was unlocked. He said when he went inside he noticed several pieces of antique furniture were missing. The victim said he then went outside and noticed that a Historical Society property marker was also missing along with a heart-shaped rock which had been at the residence since the original owner lived there almost 100 years ago.

Deputy Gullett was then advised that a neighbor had purchased some items from the victims during the previous few days. The neighbor had reportedly driven by the residence at around3 p.m.on March 17 and noticed a white Ford truck sitting in the driveway with furniture in the bed.

The neighbor came to the location and informed Deputy Gullett that on March 17 she observed a white female who appeared to be in her mid-thirties loading furniture into a white Ford truck at the residence. She said she helped the woman load a piece of furniture into the truck. The neighbor told the deputy she didn’t contact law enforcement because she knew the victims were trying to sell furniture.

The neighbor also informed Deputy Gullett that the woman had scratched her truck on the driver’s side while loading the furniture. She also had a dog with her and had headed toward Murfreesborowhen she left.

Items reported as stolen included an antique drop-leaf table, antique silk shower curtains, an antique dresser with a mirror and an antique hutch cabinet with the inside back panel painted green. The marker stone had a black plaque attached to it with the name “Ready Oliver” engraved.

Total value of the items was estimated at $2,300. Anyone with information can report it to the sheriff’s department at 563-1000.
