Activities at the library continue at break neck speed all through January, so let's get started with what is happening the week of January 19 to 24.

Story Time continues with the topic of Birthdays on Tuesday, January 20, at Adams and on Wednesday, January 21, at Auburntown. Both start at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 2 to 5.

It's still not too late to join the Winter Reading Program which began on January 2 and continues through the end of February. Every five books you read gives you a chance to win a prize. This is open to anyone in the 6th grade or older. Sign up at the circulation desk and learn all about it.

For adults only, there is a new Writers' Group meeting at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 23. Bring some of your work to share and get feedback, critiques and help to get over that writing hurdle that's holding you back from creating the next great American novel. And if you like this, you might also like the Memory Writing Workshop coming next week.

Battle of the Books for grades 3 to 5 began last week, but it's not too late to sign up and start reading. This continues through March 12, so there's still plenty of time to get started. Come to the circulation desk for more information.

The new Teen Writers' Group is having their first meeting, January 20, from 4 to 5 p.m. The library will provide refreshments and future meetings will be discussed and organized. Bring your writing problems and triumphs to share with others. Be a founding member and help set the tone for future meetings.

If writing isn't your teen thing, come on Saturday, January 24, from noon to 2 p.m. for Cupcake Wars. Meet in the Jennings Community room for a fun and friendly competition to be the best cupcake decorator. There's a limit of 8, so don't forget to sign up at the circulation desk.

Remember Teens, your opinion matters at the library. We're looking for volunteers for Tech help, Homework help and members for our Teen Advisory Board. The library is here for you so help us make it what you want it to be.
Don't forget to stop by the circulation desk to pick up the quarterly newsletter with all this information and more.

ou can also sign up for events and get more information about anything at circulation. If we don't know it, we will find someone who does. And please remember, if there is something you'd like to do at the library that we haven't thought of yet, let someone at circulation know. This is your library and we work for you.
