Cannon County Battle of Books: the Results Are In!
The Cannon County Library System is excited to announce that, for the second year in a row, West Side Elementary School is the winner of the 2nd Annual Book Battle Reading Challenge! Also, we happily proclaim that Mrs. Gannon's second grade class will again receive the library sponsored pizza party. Following closely behind as the Runner Up is Woodland Elementary! Woodland was unable to participate in last year's program; we are very proudto see the results they produced this year! The Cannon County Library System also would like to acknowledge Auburn Elementary, Mrs. Sullivan's first grade from Woodbury Grammar, Short Mountain Elementary, and two excellent students in Mrs. Burger's sixth grade class at East Side Elementary for their outstanding participation in the program.
With the help of teachers, librarians, parents, and others, Cannon County students read an astounding 4,581 books this year, which is an increase of 2,159 books from last year! We are tremendously proud of each and every student and we thank them, as well as their parents and teachers, for all of their hard work.

The new Star Wars movie, "The Force Awakens," comes out December 18.
To celebrate this exciting event, the Adams Memorial Library is hosting a Star Wars Party on Saturday, December 12, starting at 11 a.m. Come eat Storm Trooper cup cakes with Light Saber pretzel sticks. Make Light Saber pencils and play Death Star corn hole. A photo booth will be set up so everyone can have a picture made with Star Wars props. The photos will be posted on Facebook where everyone can see what a great time we're having and later you can share your photo with friends and family.
Come dressed as your favorite character and enter the costume contest. Everyone will be entered to win one of the three Star Wars prizes - a jacket, a water bottle and a figurine.
We may even have some surprises that are not mentioned here, so don't be late to the party.
Sign-up is preferred so we know how many to prepare for, but if you forget to sign up, come on over anyway. The more the merrier. Mark your calendars: December 12 at 11 a.m. May the Force be with You. Adams Memorial Library, Jennings Community Room, 615-563-5861.
