May is Older American month and the Cannon County Senior Center board and staff have been working on getting things together for the 2012 Good Ole Days that supports program at the Cannon County  Senior Center.

The group has made a few changes to this year’s festival such as adding a new title to some of our event.  You will see the Cannon Ball theme attached to many of the events held within Good Ole Days.

A couple of the changes include the Cannon Ball 5K Run to be held on Saturday May 19th, Cannon Ball Outdoor Events for children and the design of our new logo for the entire festival.

The Good Ole Days is held on the third weekend of May, located on the Square of Woodbury.  The festival will feature Pageants, Music, Food Vendors, Craft Vendors, Baby Show, Cannon Ball Parade and Cannon Ball Dog Show on May 18th and 19th.

All forms from pageants to dog show can be picked up at the Cannon County Senior Center or go online to www.cannoncountygoodoledays.com to be printed.

Cannon Ball Parade Chairperson Wanda Hall has ask that all folks interested in the parade to get a form to fill out and return it to the Center to receive your line up number to help place vehicles on the day of the parade.  Floats, antique vehicles, buggies, horse riders and walkers can be judges for prizes and there is no fee to enter the parade.  We ask that animals have all cog gins test, and ATV's are not accepted in the Cannon Ball Parade.

The festival has 13 pageants held over the two days and pageant contestants have a couple deadlines to watch out for.  The early bird deadline for all pageants is April 29th.

Babies ages birth to 5 yrs old, Little Miss (Kindergarten to 2nd grade), Jr. Miss (3rd grade to 5th grade) and Miss Teen (6th grade to 8th grade) entry fee is $25 till April 29th.  Miss Good Ole Days (9th grade to 12th grade) entry fee is $35.

After April 29th pageant fees are $50 and Miss Good Ole Days is $55. We will take contestants at that price until May 13th. The committee has pageants forms at each of the schools and can be picked up on the outside of the Senior Center or printed from the website.  The Cannon Courier will print photos of the contestants who enter the $10 photogenic contest.

The Cannon Ball 5K Run and Fun Walk forms are on line and can be picked up at the Center.  We encourage everyone to get out and walk or run to help support seniors in Cannon County.

All proceeds from the festival go to support programs at the Cannon County Senior Center we serve over 1200 members and provided over 50,000 units of service in 2010-11.

The committee is looking for Sponsors for events, Food Vendors and Craft Vendors if you are interested in any of our events please call 615-563-5304. Dust off your lawn chairs and get them ready to place on the square for a weekend of fun May 18th and 19th.
