Just as few days after qualifying to run for one of the two seats up for election on the Cannon County Board of Education, one candidate has withdrawn from the race.

Charley Heath notified the Cannon County Election Office Monday that he was no longer running for the Fifth District seat on the school board.

Heath's decision to withdraw leaves three candidates — Michael Mayfield, William C. Melton and Shelly Walkup — as contenders for the seat.

In other election-related news, the election office has issued the following information:

Reminder to all County Officials

This is a reminder to all County Officals. Your Campaign Finance 1st Quarter report is due by April 10th. If you need a copy of the report to file please call our office.

Withdrawal deadline

Thursday April 8th at "NOON" will be the deadline for withdrawal. If a candidate wants to withdrawal from the election they will have to do so by this date.
